Moving Day Planning

Preparation for the Move

Moving Day
Preparation is key for a smooth relocation. A well planned move enables you to know what to expect on the actual moving day.

Although every move is unique, often a domestic move will consist of items to be packed, items that will stay, items for storage and also for disposal. Organizing these groups in advance of packing will greatly contribute to a smooth relocation.

Preparing and setting aside areas for both packing materials and for packed boxes awaiting transfer will help the moving out process.

If you are familiar with the layout of the property you are moving into, it is recommended to consider the eventual placement of your items. This effort will facilitate a smooth and organized order for unpacking.

We would strongly suggest that you carry important and valuable items, such as jewelry, passports, and cash with you to your new location. Keeping valuable items secured provides you peace of mind during the moving process.

If your move will take more than one day, you will need to consider where you will be staying each night and the necessities you will need to bring along with you.

Actual moving day

  • The Crew Supervisor will arrive at the scheduled time and proceed to:
  • Walk around your home with you so you can indicate the items to be packed, those that will stay and any other items that may be destined for storage or disposal.
  • Carry out a damage inspection for each item prior to packing, highlighting any pre-existing damage to you.
  • Conduct a pre-packing inspection of the current home to indicate any existing scratches, marks or imperfections on floors, doorways, and walls.
  • Ensure that your floors, doorways and other areas of your home that may be vulnerable to damage are suitably protected.
  • Ensure that every box is marked with a brief description and the room from which it came from.

If you have any items of particular sentimental value, please point them out to your Crew Supervisor who will personally oversee the packing of those items.

At your new residence, the supervisor and you will also conduct the same pre-move inspection for existing damage to floors, doors and walls. Our crew will then prepare appropriate protection prior to your items being transferred to the new residence.
